Knock at the Cabin (2023) is a polarizing addition to M. Night Shyamalan’s filmography, often described by critics as a "comfortably mediocre" thriller that excels in technical craftsmanship but falters under the weight of its own message. While many hail it as his best work since Split (2016), others find it an "overwrought quasi-theological melodrama" that fails to deliver a satisfying payoff.

The film follows a gay couple, Eric (Jonathan Groff) and Andrew (Ben Aldridge), and their adopted daughter Wen (Kristen Cui), who are taken hostage in a remote cabin by four strangers led by Leonard (Dave Bautista). The intruders claim that to avert a global apocalypse, the family must willingly sacrifice one of their own. 'Knock At The Cabin' (2023) Review - Horror Press
