It was a sunny afternoon in late spring when Alex found himself sitting by the window in his history class, staring blankly at the chalkboard. He pictured himself as a hero, with his teammates cheering his name and the crowd clapping wildly.

His fantasies took him to a place where he was confident, charismatic, and successful. He imagined himself making friends easily, being part of a close-knit group, and having a girlfriend who admired him. These daydreams were his escape from the reality of being a shy and somewhat introverted schoolboy.
