Catherine Coulter is a prolific author known for her seamless blending of high-stakes suspense and intricate romance. While she initially built her career on (often set in the Regency and Georgian periods), she is now perhaps best known for her long-running FBI Thriller series . This series, beginning with The Cove , has become a staple for fans of procedural mysteries that don't shy away from complex, often parallel, plotlines. The Craft Behind the Suspense

: A hallmark of her FBI thrillers is the use of two separate, often complex mysteries that eventually converge or run alongside each other, keeping the pace relentless.

: Central to her thrillers are FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock , a husband-and-wife duo whose relationship provides a grounded, human element amidst international intrigue and "pulse-pounding terror".

: She has also ventured into high-octane international thrillers with the Brit in the FBI series, co-written with J.T. Ellison , which she notes focuses more on a single, intense narrative thread.

Coulter’s writing process is famously organic; she often describes herself as writing "by the seat of her pants" rather than using rigid outlines.

About FLR

The FLR project has been developing and providing fishery scientists with a powerful and flexible platform for quantitative fisheries science based on the R statistical language. The guiding principles of FLR are openness, through community involvement and the open source ethos, flexibility, through a design that does not constraint the user to a given paradigm, and extendibility, by the provision of tools that are ready to be personalized and adapted. The main aim is to generalize the use of good quality, open source, flexible software in all areas of quantitative fisheries research and management advice.
