Looking back, June 2014 feels like a plateau before a series of steep climbs. The political and social upheavals that would define the late 2010s were still mostly quiet murmurs. The sun stayed out late, the air was warm, and the goals were clear: maintain the house, grow the career, and enjoy the fleeting moments of a summer that felt permanent. To be forty-something then was to stand in the light, unaware of how quickly the world—and the self—was about to change. 💡 Technology was helpful but not yet overwhelming
